Located in the north-east part of Kowloon Peninsula, Kowloon City is an area named after the Kowloon Walled City, which was demolished in April 1994. The area was a home for the former Hong Kong International Airport (Kai Tak Airport), which was replaced in 1998 by the new airport at Chek Lap Kok, Lantau Island. Currently, most tourists do not pay attention to the area, because it comprises only a couple of things to do & see and is also not covered by the MTR. The main attraction is the Kowloon Walled City Park, which stands on the former Kowloon Walled City territory. Another popular thing to do is to try Oriental cuisine at one of the local restaurants, especially Thai establishments.
